Who we are
22K Gold Rate Today (22kgoldratetoday.in) is run by Shimtools. For any question about your data, to use your rights below, or to raise a grievance, write to hello@shimtools.com. That address is our grievance contact.
What we collect, and why
If you only read the site
You don't need an account, and there is no sign-up or email list. The calculator works in your browser: the figures you type in it are never sent to us.
Analytics
Our hosting provider's analytics counts page views (the page, where the visit came from, the country, and the kind of device, browser and operating system) and measures how fast pages load. It sets no cookies. We also count which weight you pick on the rate stone, with the place. We see all of this only as totals.
Google Analytics
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed and for how long, where the visit came from, the device and browser, and an approximate location worked out from the IP address. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years and tell a returning browser apart from a new one. We have turned off its advertising and personalisation features, and it receives page addresses without anything after a “?”. For visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland it sets no cookies. To stop it everywhere, install Google's opt-out add-on.
Jeweller partners
Jewellers we invite to send us their board rates sign in to a private rate desk with their email address and an access code we give them. For each partner we store:
- their email address, a contact name, and the shop name and city shown with their rates
- their access code, only in a hashed form that can't be turned back into the code
- every set of rates they send, with its time and whether it was published, and the IP address it came from in a hashed form, so we can tell when two came from the same connection
We use these to run the rate desk and to show where each partner rate comes from: the shop name and city are published with the partner's rates as their source.
To limit abuse, we count failed sign-ins by IP address and by email address. We keep these counts only in a hashed form, for an hour, and use them for nothing else.
Rates
The rates on the site are either our estimate from the international spot price or a partner's board rate. Apart from a partner's shop name and city, they hold no personal data.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider's servers log requests (such as the page asked for, the time, the IP address and the browser) for security and debugging, and keep them for a limited time under the provider's own policy. Our own log lines never contain an email address, an access code or an IP address.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies for visitors, and we use no advertising cookies. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id> (up to two years) to tell returning visits apart, except for visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Our hosting provider's analytics sets none. One more cookie, __Host-partner, is set only when a jeweller partner signs in to the rate desk: it is strictly necessary to keep them signed in, lasts 7 days, and is removed when they sign out.
Who processes your data
- our hosting provider, which serves the site and runs its cookieless analytics
- a cloud database provider, which stores the rates and the rate desk's records
- Google, for Google Analytics
They process your data only to provide their services to us. Your data may be processed outside India. We never sell your data or share it for anyone else's marketing.
How long we keep it
- A partner's details, for as long as they are a partner.
- When a partnership ends, we switch off the partner's access and delete their access code. Their details and the rates they sent stay, as the record of what the site showed, until they ask us to delete them.
- The counts of failed sign-ins, for an hour.
- The sign-in cookie, 7 days, or until the partner signs out.
- Google Analytics data, at most 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a summary of the personal data we hold about you and what we do with it
- correct or update it
- erase it
- end your access to the rate desk, if you are a partner
- let someone you nominate use these rights for you if you die or become unable to
Write to hello@shimtools.com from the address concerned. We reply within 7 days. If we don't resolve your grievance, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This site is not meant for anyone under 18, and the rate desk is only for the jewellers we invite. If we learn that we hold personal data about someone under 18, we delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, with strict security headers. Access codes and IP addresses are stored only in a hashed form. Access to the database is limited to the people who run the site.
Changes to this notice
When this notice changes, the date at the top changes too. We announce material changes on this page.
